Name of Club

Techtonics

Description

Outline the club in great detail. List what the club entails and what activities you will be focusing on in your meetings. Be very specific.

Techtonics will have two parts: A Competition division and an Education Division. The Competition division will have monthly gatherings where members can discuss progress on competition and freeform projects. This division hopes to compete in the Trinity Home Robot Firefighting Competition, as well as the Science Olympaid Electronic Vehicle and Sumobot competitions in conjunction with the official Science Olympiad club at Stuyvesant.

The Education Division will focus on getting the newer members up to speed on current technologies. We will provide a combination of lecture-based classes and workshop based classes to new members. Our project-based curriculum ensures that every new student will be able to get hands on experiences with circuitry, programming, elecronics, and robotics.

Mission

Explain the purpose of the club. The mission statement should lay out the goals of the club in terms of what it plans to do for the students and the greater Stuyvesant Community.

Techtonics is a project based robotics and technology team and club. We serve as an umbrella under which many dedicated individuals from the school can organize groups to work on electronics, programming, and technology projects. We will serve as a forum in which technology oriented students can find each-other and learn from each-other. We aim to bring real-world electronics education to students of every grade, giving students an early start on this very mathematical and physical field.

Appointment of Officers

How will the officer positions be assigned? What criteria must a member meet to obtain a position? Describe officer positions offered in the club and criteria for each one. Explain the process completely.

President: The new president is to be chosen by the current president unless the later was removed via the impeachment process. In this case, the Faculty Advisor may name the new President. The President’s duty is to ensure all paperwork is up to date with the Student Union, and to ensure that the team is functioning well. The President must observe every project and is obligated with responsibility for any project that aims to enter in Competition under the Techtonics name.

Vice President: A new vice president is to be chosen by the current President with approval by the Faculty Advisor. The Vice President shares the workload imposed on the President and can execute any action that requires Presidential authority after specific approval by the Faculty Advisor.

Project Managers: Each project will be organized and run by one Project Manager. To become a project manager, a student must: Write up a project proposal, have the proposal approved by the President, and announce their project at a team-wide meeting. The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring their project runs smoothly, progresses, and get finished on time. The Project Manager has authority to deny any member access to their project for any reason he or she sees fit. Banned members may seek a reversal from the President, Vice President, or Faculty Advisor.

Impeachment

Describe how an officer is removed from their position.

The President may be removed if all of the following conditions are met:

  • 2/3 of the active members vote to remove the President.
  • The Faculty Advisor approves and supports the removal.

Should the President be removed, the Faculty Advisor may use his or her own judgment in selecting a new President.

The Vice President may be removed if and only if the President orders the removal and the Faculty Advisor approves it.

Project Managers will remain as such until he or she decides to end the project, he or she steps down, or by order of the President, Vice President, or Faculty Advisor.
